Las Reinas del Pop - 2 queens of Spanish Pop

I once was shopping in a department store in Sevilla, looking for clothes...naturally. When what to my surprise and delight was something like the lamp post in Narnia. that was by itself in a forest. Do you remember when you could go into a music store in the mall and sample the cd of your choice? There was a post and you could scan in the cd. Well here was one of those posts....in like a JC Penney! So i had to listen, and what i heard didn't leave me that whole semester until i flew back to the states. They reminded me of a rock-pop version of the Indigo Girls. Ella Baila Sola had won me over. Probably because she was dancing alone. :). I'll let you try them out on your time but my fav song is Amor en un Bar.
The other reina is Amaia Montero, then front woman for La Oreja de Van Gogh. I think everything i listened to was esconsed in train or bus travel, but a powerful song will grab you anywhere. El 20 de Enero is magnificent. You gotta love a story that not only goes by quickly but is bathed in music. Xabi San Martin and Pablo Benegas weave a tapestry with Amaia that puts the clothes on love that you don't usually wear.
Rosas is a popular pop song you'll hear everywhere. I just love the poetry more than anything with this band. And the music feels like just enough but at the same time the perfect amount to drive home the profundity in the words.
Amaia eventually moved on to a solo career but the band has made a quality transition. to a new female front.
Que disfruten!
